The cough is so painful that the person needs to hold their chest with their hands when they cough. Tearing pain in forehead.

Antymonium tartaricum. The bronchi are clogged with mucus. The patient is unable to cough. He feels weak and sleepy. Cough with shortness of breath. The cough gets worse at about 4 pm or about 4 am.
Antimonium crudum. The cough is worse on going from a cold to a hot room.
Cocculus. When coughing, viscous white mucus is expectorated, stretching in threads. The cough is accompanied by vomiting, which expels mucus from the stomach.
Pulsatilla is often used in acute illnesses in childhood. The cough becomes dry in the evening and at night. It is only productive in the morning, with yellow or greenish mucus. Worse from warmth and better in open air. Worse when going to bed. Children cry and act up. Changeable symptoms.
Ferrum phos. needed in the early stages of inflammation. The cough is accompanied by stitching pains. The mucus may be bloody. Ailments often come on after a cold, but the symptoms are not sudden and severe (Aconite). Hoarseness with cough.
Ammonium carb. Cough with difficult expectoration. Worse at 3 am. Respiratory failure. Worse in wet season. Hemorrhages. Right nasal congestion at night. Shortness of breath on exertion. Better lying on the stomach and on the affected side. Worse in the morning on rising. Better in dry, warm weather.
Aconitum napellus. Haemoptysis bright red, with fear and fever. The cough is worse on exhalation. Aconite is one of the main remedies for croup.
Barking, rough cough accompanied by difficulty in breathing. Aconite is needed in the early stages. The cough is worse at night. Dry cough with dry mouth, thirst and dyspnea.
The patient feels intense anxiety. Coughs, colds, and earaches often come on after exposure to dry, cold winds and are sudden and severe.
